Wings Soar to Opening Day Victory on the Road

The U13 B Cole Harbour Wings kicked off their regular season in style this afternoon at the Spryfield Lions Rink, skating away with a hard-fought win over the Chebucto team in what can only be described as a statement game.

Chebucto came out flying early, setting the tone late in the first with some solid puck movement and pressure in the Wings’ end. But it didn’t take long for Cole Harbour to find their groove. Once they settled in, the Wings looked like a team that’s been playing together for years—moving the puck clean, supporting each other in every zone, and showing serious chemistry for game one of the season.

Today’s Player of the Game, proudly sponsored by All Star Energy, goes to #2 Cooper Norris, who put on a show with some clutch plays and the game-winning goal to seal the deal for the Wings. Norris’ effort and hustle were unmatched from puck drop to the final buzzer.

Next up, the Wings stay on the road and head to Lantz, where they’ll face off against the East Hants Penguins tomorrow night at 7:00 PM at the East Hants Sportsplex. The last time these two teams met, the scoreboard stayed empty on both sides—but you can bet the Wings will be looking to change that and light the lamp this time around.

The Wings are rolling—let’s keep the momentum going!

Exhibition vs Penguins

EXHIBITION RECAP: WINGS TAKE FLIGHT IN FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON

The U13 B Cole Harbour Wings officially kicked off their season last night in an exhibition matchup against the East Hants Penguins at the East Hants Sportsplex — and right from puck drop, these Wings looked ready to soar.

The boys came out buzzing, setting the tone early with sharp passing, solid backchecking, and some great chemistry for their first time together on the ice. The Wings controlled most of the play, hemming the Penguins in their own end for long stretches and generating plenty of scoring chances.

But standing tall between the pipes for East Hants was their goaltender — and she was lights out. The Penguins’ tendy put on an absolute clinic, turning away every shot the Wings could throw her way. Her performance was nothing short of stellar and easily the biggest difference-maker in this preseason battle.

After three hard-fought periods, the game ended in a 0–0 tie, but the Wings definitely left a statement. They showed speed, grit, and a level of teamwork that has fans excited for what’s ahead.

Coach Matthews kept his postgame comments short and confident, saying he likes the direction this team is headed and believes they’ll be a top contender as the season unfolds.

Next up, the Wings hit the road to start their regular season Saturday, October 18th at 3:00 PM at the Spryfield Lions Rink, where they’ll face off against Chebucto. Can’t make it to the rink? The game will be live streamed on the team’s Facebook page for friends and family.

Then on Sunday, October 19th, the Wings are back at the East Hants Sportsplex for a regular season rematch against the Penguins — puck drops at 4:30 PM.

The exhibition may have ended in a draw, but one thing’s clear: these Wings are hungry, focused, and ready for lift-off. Stay tuned right here for all your updates, highlights, and coverage throughout the season.
